Polish conservatives win election

Poland's center-right opposition party, Law and Justice, has won Poland's parliamentary elections taking power from the country's ruling liberal-conservative party, Civic Platform.

This is the first time in a decade the center right party has gained power in Poland as the general public shifts to a more Eurosceptic and anti-immigration stance.

Suspected terror attack attempt on army base in Belgium

A masked man has rammed his car into a military base in Belgium in a suspected terrorist attack.

Shots were fired at the man who fled - the car has now been recovered by police about 2 kilometers from the base.

John Kerry and Sergey Lavrov discuss political transition for Syria over phone

US Secretary of State John Kerry discussed over telephone political transition in Syria with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov – just a day after the two diplomats met in Vienna for four-party talks with Foreign Ministry officials of Saudi Arabia and Turkey. In a separate statement Moscow has offered cooperation to the Free Syrian Army but the anti-Assad rebels reject Russian military help. Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.

EU and Western Balkan leaders agree to deeper cooperation on refugee and migrant crisis

The leaders of the countries affected on the refugee and migrant route through the Western Balkans have agreed create an additional 100 thousand places in refugee centers to tackle the crisis.

An emergency summit called by the European Union Commission saw the countries agree to bolster the EU's border force Frontex and provide police officers for the hardest hit areas.

Indonesia's Pres. Widodo Visits Washington

EU and Western Balkan leaders meet to discuss refugee crisis

US Markets Look Ahead To Apple Earnings and Fed Meeting

Traders on Wall Street are awaiting a meeting of the US Federal Reserve this coming Tuesday and Wednesday, though few expect interest rates to be raised yet.

Direct flights between Russia and Ukraine halted

Flights between Russia and Ukraine have terminated on October 25 as both countries have banned each other from their respective airspace. The step came after the countries exchanged mutual sanctions following the annexation of Crimea by Russia last year. Kiev also accused Moscow of sending arms and troops to help separatists fighting the government forces in the east of Ukraine. Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.

US TO CONDUCT MORE RAIDS AGAINST ISIS

US forces will conduct more raids like Thursday's operation that rescued 70 prisoners of ISIS in the future, according to the Department of Defense.

Defense Chief Ashton Carter says the raids do not constitute a change to US policy not to participate in combat operations in the fight against ISIS, but is merely an adaptation of existing US strategy.

Mr Carter says the joint US-Kurdish operation saved 70 prisoners who were facing mass execution, their graves already dug and the deaths scheduled to take place after morning prayers.

He also said the US uncovered a significant cache of information on ISIS during the raid, including documentation and electronic equipment.

The Defense chief also said the US is ramping up an assault on ISIS' oil enterprise, which Mr Carter called a crucial piece of the group's financial infrastructure.

He said US forces this week took out an ISIS oil pump and site for crude oil production in Eastern Syria.
