US-Russia agree to share airspace over Syria

The U.S. and Russian militaries have signed a memorandum of understanding about how the two can operate safely over Syrian skies.

Russia's claims that it is targeting the Islamic State in it's own way have been countered by allies claims that Moscow's primary goal is to prop up Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Google Invests In Chinese AI Startup

Google has reportedly invested more than $60 million in its
China-based Android Wear partner Mobvoi, landing the tech giant a
minority stake in the artificial-intelligence developer that operates
a Chinese-language search engine. This a return to China for Google,
after the company mostly halted business in the country in 2010 due to
censorship concerns.

American Cancer Society pushes for later mammograms

The American Cancer Society is adjusting its recommendations when it comes to women getting mammograms.  

The organization says women should now wait until they are 45 years old to begin the annual procedure.

Credit Agricole agrees $800 banking sanctions fine

French bank Credit Agricole has reached an agreement with US
authorities to pay almost $800 million for violating banking
sanctions.

It's alleged the company carried out illegal banking activities for
countries including Iran and Sudan.

UN's Ban Ki-moon visits Israel and Palestine

After the recent resurgence of violence in the Middle East, United
Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has made an unscheduled visit to
the region. The UN's top official will convene with Israeli prime
minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Palestinian President Mahmoud
Abbas to discuss possible solutions.

TURKEY OPEN TO ASSAD TRANSITION

Turkey says it would accept a political transition in Syria which included President Bashar al-Assad remaining in power for six months before stepping aside.

This as it's claimed Russian air strikes killed the leader of a Syrian rebel group which has been receiving foreign military support in its fight against forces loyal to President Assad.

UK Steel Sector Hit By Job Cuts

The UK Steel sector has been dealt another blow, after Tata Steel announced 1,200 job losses at two of its plants.

Chinese President on State Visit to UK

Chinese President Xi Jinping has been welcomed to the UK by members of the royal family and British politicians in a huge ceremony to mark the state visit.


The UK is pushing for closer relationships with China and the President was treated to the traditional pomp and fanfare, including a 41 gun salute.

Greece's creditors begin bailout assessments in Athens

Senior officials Greece's biggest lenders are assessing the whether Athens has implemented the required reforms to receive  2 billion euro slice of its 86 billion euro bailout. 

The European Commission, the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the European Stability Mechanism are all in Athens to inspect the progress on the deal which prevented Greece from exiting the single currency euro, in July.

Refugees and migrants stuck on Croatian-Slovenian border allowed to cross

Around 5000 people who were stranded on the Croatian-Slovenian border have now been allowed to cross into Slovenia.

Many refugees and migrants had been forced to sleep in the open in wet and muddy conditions while the Slovenian government only allowed 2500 people to enter their country per day.
