NATO-Russia tensions flare over Turkish airspace violations

The NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg is holding a press conference in Brussels ahead of a defense ministers meeting with tensions against Russia rising once again.

NATO member Turkey accuses Russia of illegaling entering its airspace which the military alliance has called an 'unacceptable violation'.

Syrian groups call for an alliance against Russia

More than 40 Syrian insurgent groups including those fighting against Syria's president Bashar al-Assad, have called on regional states to forge an alliance against Russia and Iran. They accused Moscow of occupying Syria and of targeting civilians there. Anya Ardayeva reports from the Russian capital.

IOD: HOLD UK EU REFERENDUM BEFORE 2017

Britain's planned EU referendum could end up being a confidence vote on the government, and risks being affected by domestic European politics, according to a leading business group.

The Institute of Directors is warning if the vote is not held until 2017, French and German elections in that year may end up affecting it.

Prime Minister David Cameron says he can secure reform of Britain's relationship with the EU, and will then campaign to stay in the bloc in a vote by 2017.

Youth arrested in Western Sydney after threats

Supporters of Islamic State have praised the deadly attack on New South Wales police headquarters in Western Sydney, extolling 15-year-old Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar as a "knight" who had carried out a mission on behalf of the terrorist group.
The comments come as a schoolmate of Jabar was arrested outside his school in Parramatta on Tuesday morning.

California Joins Handful of US States with Right to Die Law

California’s Governor has signed legislation to allow terminally ill patients to legally end their lives using doctor-prescribed drugs.

US general says Afghan forces called for air strike in Kunduz

According to a top US commander in Afghanistan, it was Afghan forces
that called for the airstrike that killed 22 people at a Doctors
without Borders (MSF) hospital in Kunduz.

General John Campbell said the airstrike was called to eliminate a
Taliban threat — a claim MSF has rejected.

Cargo ship believed sunk in The Bahamas

American Apparel Files For Bankruptcy

The US clothing company American Apparel has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.


The retailer said it's already reached agreements with its creditors over 95 per cent of it secured debts - if that deal's approved in court, it says it will be able to stay in business.

US Defense Secretary Says Russia Has 'Losing Strategy' In Syria

US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter said Russia is pursuing a "losing
strategy" in Syria, and that carrying out airstrikes will only worsen

OSBORNE VOWS UK-EU REFORM

Britain will succeed in securing significant reform of its relationship with the European Union, according to its finance minister George Osborne.

He's used a keynote speech at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester to insist the EU must change, or face stagnation.

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has promised to win reform of the EU before holding a referendum on Britain's membership of it.

But some member states are threatening to block his reform plans.

Portugal's ruling party retains power
