CIA Operatives Withdrawn from Embassy in Beijing

The CIA withdrew a number of staff from the US Embassy in Beijing, according to the Washington Post. 

US officials confirmed the withdrawal to the newspaper, citing concerns over a recent hacking case.

UN Security Council hold counter-terror talks

The United Nations Security Council is hosting an open debate to
discuss ways on fighting terrorism in the Middle East and
North Africa.

Russia has proposing a draft resolution at the meeting but world
leaders remain divided on what role Syria's President Bashar al-Assad
should play in the process.



Highlighting the failures of past attempts to bring stability to the

Palestinian flag to fly at UN for first time

US warplanes target Taliban at Afghanistan airport

The United States has carried it's second day of airstrikes near Afghanistan's Taliban-held Kunduz, as reports warn the crisis in the northern city is deepening.

The US says it's role is to support Afghan troops as there counterattack continues on the ground.

Russia Pushes Security Council Resolution To Fight IS

Russia's foreign minister Sergei Lavrov has proposed a draft UN Security Council resolution on fighting terrorism and the Islamic State organisation.

Speaking at a special UN Security Council meeting on ways to defeat the militants in Iraq and Syria, Mr. Lavrov said the resolution would be circulated and negotiated over the next month.

As Lorna Shaddick reports from UN Headquarters in New York, it comes as Russian planes have carried out their first airstrikes in Syria.

Vatican confirms Pope met county clerk jailed for refusing to issue same sex marriage licenses on US trip

The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Francis met Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, during his visit to the US.

UN Hosts High Level Meeting on Migration


UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is hosting a high level meeting this Wednesday on the issue of migration and refugee movements.

The gathering, on the sidelines of the General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York, will cover refugee and human rights, people trafficking and smuggling.

It comes as Hungary's foreign minister proposed a global quota system to take in refugees.

Catalan leader charged with "disobedience"

Over half a million migrants have arrived in Europe this year - IOM

Well over half a million migrants have arrived by sea into Europe this year already according to the International Organisation for Migration.

Around two thirds of that number have entered through Greece and a third through Italy - setting off predominantly from Libya and Turkey

EU reveals plans to boost investment across bloc

The EU is outlining plans to pool and boost investor funds to help European businesses launch and grow.

German prosecutors to investigate Audi

German prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation into the
carmaker Audi in the latest fallout from the Volkswagen emissions
scandal.

The VW subsidiary has said over two million of its vehicles were

Agreement on weapons pullout in eastern Ukraine negotiated

Participants of the Contact Group on Ukraine signed an agreement on the withdrawal of tanks and small caliber weaponry from a neutral line separating the Ukrainian government forces and the pro-Russia separatists fighting in the Donbass region. UBER ANGERED OVER LONDON REGULATION PLANS

Uber says plans being proposed in London to regulate the taxi-hailing market would effectively end its operations in the British capital.

Transport for London has been under pressure from the city's iconic black cab drivers to be tougher with Uber.

And it is reportedly suggesting new rules including a minimum wait of five minutes before a car can arrive for its booking - even via an app like Uber.

Thousands of Londoners have already signed a petition against the new proposals which will be put to consultation.

Valerie Shawcross, Labour member of the London Assembly, believes it's time to tighten regulation.
