CAMERON PROMISES UK ACTION ON REFUGEES

British Prime Minister David Cameron says he was 'deeply moved' by the pictures of a dead Syrian boy on a Turkish beach, and that the UK will live up to its 'moral responsibilities'.

It follows criticism of Mr Cameron domestically and from some European allies over his government's response to the European migrant crisis.

On Wednesday he had insisted taking more refugees into Britain was not the answer.

But an online petition for the UK to accept more people fleeing Syria and other countries for Europe has now attracted enough support to make it eligible for a debate in Britain's Parliament.

And UK finance minister George Osborne says the UK is doing its utmost to address the issue.
