Migrants begin boarding car ferry to use as temporary home at Greek island of Kos

A passenger ship at the Greek island of Kos has begun registering migrants who will use the vessel as their temporary home.

At least 5,000 asylum seekers have arrived on Kos in the hope of a better life in the European Union - but the island does not have the capacity to process their requests or look after them properly.

Iranian Foreign Minister in Moscow

UK PAY INEQUALITY 'STRATOSPHERIC'

Chief Executives of FTSE 100 companies in the UK earn, on average, 183 times more than a full-time worker, according to the latest data.

The High Pay Centre says FTSE CEOs took home around $8m a year in 2014.

This compared to the UK average wage of around $42 000.

Trade union the TUC says the research shows inequality is now reaching 'stratospheric levels'.

Sir Michael Darrington, a former CEO and now boss of the Pro-Business Against Greed campaign group, says the pay packets aren't justified.

DIABETES 'SOARING' IN UK AMID HIGH OBESITY

Diabetes is soaring in the UK and could cause the collapse of the National Health Service, according to fresh warnings.

Charity Diabetes UK says the number of people living with the condition in Britain has soared 60% in a decade.

It warns diabetes is leading to 135 foot amputations every week in the UK.

The charity is calling on the NHS to improve diabetes care and to increase efforts to bring down obesity levels.

Civil rights activist Julian Bond dies

American civil rights activist Julian Bond has died at the age of 75.

Helping to organize anti-segregation protests in the 1960's Bond went

MIGRANT CHANNEL CROSSING ATTEMPTS 'DOWN SHARPLY'

Greece agrees 3rd bailout deal worth 86 billion euro

Greece has come to a deal with its international creditors for a third bailout deal worth 86 billion euro over the next 3 years.

The money will come from the European Stability Mechanism which was set up in the wake on the financial crisis of 2012.

US flag files over embassy in Havana once again

The US flag is flying once again over an American embassy in Cuba.

The formal re-opening ceremony followed the re-establishment of diplomatic relations last month.

The highly-symbolic flag raising was lead by America's top diplomat John Kerry, who became the first US Secretary of State to visit Cuba since 1945.

U.S. officials strongly suspect Islamic State militants of having used mustard gas against Kurdish forces in Iraq.

Eurogroup meets on Greek deal

Eurozone finance ministers are meeting in Brussels (Today / on Friday) to rubber stamp a bailout deal for Greece.

After a long night of heated debate, the Greek parliament has approved a final round of necessary reforms in order to receive 86 billion euros in aid.

Greece's parliament has voted to approve a third bailout deal for the country after an all-night debate.


While Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras won the vote - it exposed further splits in his Syria party with many of his own MPs voting against him.


Eurozone officials are meeting in Brussels on Friday to endorse the agreement.


It will see fresh austerity including tax rises and spending cuts in Greece in exchange for an international bailout worth €85bn.


However, Vicky Pryce of the Centre for Economics and Business Research, says there is still scepticism in Germany about whether it is a good arrangement.

American flag to fly over US embassy in Cuba Friday (preview)

The American flag is due to be raised over the newly opened US embassy in Cuba tomorrow (Friday), while John Kerry will become the first US Secretary of State to visit the country since 1945.

It marks the symbolic end to one of the last vestiges of the cold war as the two countries normalize diplomatic relations after more than half a century.
