Turkey Car Bomb Kills Two Soldiers

Officials in Turkey say two soldiers have been killed and four others
wounded in a car bomb attack on a military convoy in the south east of
the country.

The blast took place late on Saturday, and no group has yet claimed
responsibility - but it comes as Turkey steps up attacks against both
the Islamic State organisation and Kurdish separatists.

Litvinenko: Crucial Witnesses


The inquiry into the murder of former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko resumed on Friday, while this week key witnesses are expected to give crucial evidence to the investigation.

Mr Litvinenko fled to the UK in 2000 claiming persecution and was granted asylum. He died in November 2006 from radiation poisoning - it’s believed this was put in his tea during a meeting with former associates.

Convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard may be released by U.S.

There are reports that the United States is preparing to release a convicted Israeli spy, who has been imprisoned for almost 30 years.




US requests extradition of former FIFA executive

The United States has requested that Paraguay extradite the former president of South America's football confederation, Conmebol.

Nicolas Leoz is suspected of being part of the money-laundering and bribery scandal in world football that the US Justice Department is currently investigating.

US Justice Dept says no criminal probe in H. Clinton emails

The U.S. Justice Department has apparently reversed course on a criminal probe into possible mishandling of classified material by Hillary Clinton via her email.

That said, the agency is confirming it has received formal requests to fully investigate how she handled her email when she was Secretary of State.

Louisiana gunman had history of mental illness

Court documents suggest the gunman who killed two people and injured several others at a cinema in the US state of Louisiana had a history of mental health issues.
59-year-old John Houser killed 33-year-old Jillian Johnson and 21-year-old Mayci Breaux before shooting himself.

Amazon smash expectations for quarterly earnings

E-commerce giant Amazon has surprised investors on Wall Street after
posting second quarter earnings that far surpassed expectations.

Revenue in the second quarter of the year was up 20% to $23.2 billion
with the company's cloud computing business seen as a major reason for
the success.

US health insurer Anthem to buy competitor Cigna for $48.4 bn

In a $48.4 billion deal, American health insurance company, Anthem is
set to buy Cigna — its long time competitor.

Obama due to land in Kenya in next few hours (clip)

US President Barack Obama is due to arrive in Kenya for his first visit to his father's homeland as president. (arrives 8pm Kenya time).

He'll also got to Ethiopia where he will become the first US leader to address the African Union.

This is his fourth visit to sub-Saharan Africa since taking office – that's more than any other US president.

Lonmin announces job losses in South Africa

UK mining company Lonmin has announced 6 thousand job cuts in South Africa, during its quarterly production statement.

EUROTUNNEL: 'HUNDREDS' OF MIGRANTS ATTEMPTING NIGHTLY CROSSINGS

Greece bailout talks underway in Athens

Talks in Athens are underway to secure an 89 billion euro bailout after the Greek government agreed to a wide range of public reforms.

Urgency called for in signing Ukraine weapons pull back deal

The leaders of France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine have agreed that a deal to pull back more weapons systems from front lines in eastern Ukraine should be signed quickly.


It comes after a fragile ceasefire agreed in February, with reports that it is being violated almost daily.
