White House confirms death of al-Qaeda leader in the Arabian Peninsula

The White House has confirmed the death of the leader of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen

Nasser al-Wuhayshi was also the second-in-command of al-Qaeda.
The US National Security Council says it strikes a major blow to the terrorist organization.

HUSBANDS APPEAL FOR MISSING 'SYRIA SISTERS' TO RETURN HOME

The husbands of three British sisters who are thought to have travelled to Syria with their nine children have appealed for them to return home.

The three women from Bradford in West Yorkshire were due home from pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia last week.

Police received noise complaint about California party before fatal balcony collapse

GREECE DEAL NO CLOSER

Greece's stock market has been slumping for the third day in a row, with the country teetering on the edge of default.

It comes as Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras again criticises the deal international creditors are trying to get his government to agree to in exhange for bailout cash.

Mr Tsipras says the reforms creditors want will put Greece back into recession.

If an agreement isn't done within days, Athens could effectively be bankrupt, and lenders show no signs of further compromise.

Putin says Russian is building more nuclear missiles

President Vladimir Putin says Russian will add more than forty intercontinental ballistic missiles to its nuclear arsenal in 2015.

EU migration plan for the Mediterranean unlikely to be signed off by home affairs ministers

European Union home affairs ministers meeting in Luxembourg are set to postpone making a decision on a plan to distribute asylum seekers crossing the mediterranean.

EU OFFICIALS DISCUSS GREECE AMID IMPASSE

Senior European officials are meeting in Brussels to discuss Greece, with the country teetering on the edge of default.

It follows reports some EU politicians are pushing for capital controls to be imposed in Greece to stop the outflow of money, if a debt deal can't be agreed by the weekend.

Greece is being urged to agree to a series of reforms in exhange for bailout cash.

If a deal isn't done within days, Greece could effectively be bankrupt.

European stock markets have opened lower again after a major sell-off on Monday.

12 MEMBERS OF UK FAMILY 'TRAVEL TO SYRIA'

British police are investigating reports 12 members of the same family have travelled to Syria.

Three sisters and their nine children, aged 3 to 15, are feared to have crossed into Syria from Turkey, after a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

They were due home to Bradford in West Yorkshire last week.

It follows the news that a 17 year-old also from West Yorkshire was thought to have become Britain's youngest suicide bomber, with an attack on an oil refinery in Iraq.
