Texas cop's lawyer says he did not target minorities

In the US state of Texas, the attorney for the former police officer seen on video throwing a black teen girl to the ground outside a pool says her client was not targeting minorities.

Attorney Jane Bishkin says former McKinney Corporal Eric Casebolt hopes his resignation will help heal the community.

Casebolt was filmed wrestling the girl to the ground in her bikini, and pointing his gun at other teenagers.

The 41 year-old had been responding to reports of disturbances at a pool party, but his actions have led to protests in the area.

Ms. Bishkin pushed back against accusations that Casebolt was targeting African-American teens while responding to the incident.
