Depp's dogs off death row and departed downunder

Actor Johnny Depp's two Yorkshire terriers have left Australia to avoid ending up on 'doggie death row' for not being declared to customs.

Death penalty for Dzokhar Tsarnaev

The jury has recommended the death penalty for Dzokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving brother in the Boston Marathon bombing case.

Four died and more than 260 were injured in April 2013 when the Tsarnaev brothers detonated two pressure cooker bombs, then went on a violent rampage across Boston.

US urges reform as thousands flee Myanmar


The U.S. is urging the government of Myanmar to focus on reform as thousands of ethnic minorities, including Rohingya Muslims piling into rickety fishing vessels as they flee persecution.

After years of isolation, Myanmar's government has been increasingly engaged with the international community, although questions remain about human rights in the authoritarian regime.

With concerns rising about the flotilla of refugees, Principal Deputy White House spokesman Eric Schultz says their concerns need to be addressed.

The U.S. says coalition forces continue to support Iraqi forces in the fight against the Islamic State in Ramadi.

According to report, Islamic State forces gained control of the main government building in Iraq's largest province, using suicide car bombs and mortars

Obama pays tribute to fallen police officers following months of tensions

South China Sea Tension On Agenda in US-China Talks

US committed to Nepal relief efforts despite deadly crash

The U.S. military will continue to work in Nepal, aiding in relief efforts, despite the deaths of six U.S. Marines and two Nepalese soldiers in a helicopter crash.

A U.S. military heavy lift Huey helicopter went missing while delivering rice and tents and other supplies to Nepalese villages north of Kathmandu.

U.S. Marine Lt. Gen. John Wissler promised, American forces would continue with relief efforts following the two major earthquakes.

CAMERON AND STURGEON MEET FOR SCOTLAND TALKS

British Prime Minister David Cameron has agreed to look at proposals for further devolution of powers to Scotland.

He's held talks with the leader of the Scottish National Party Nicola Sturgeon after the SNP swept the board in Scotland in last week's UK election.
 
The SNP wants London to devolve even more power to Edinburgh than was agreed after Scotland voted against independence last year.

Critics of the Prime Minister say his campaigning ahead of the election was divisive and may have pushed Scotland closer to a fresh referendum on leaving the UK.

Nicola Sturgeon says devolution remains a work in progress.

An American helicopter with a crew of eight on board has been found after going missing in the mountains of Nepal while on a earthquake relief missing.

BB KING DIES

The so-called 'King of the Blues', BB King has died at the age of 89.

The singer and guitarist was known for hits including My Lucille, Rock Me Baby and Sweet Little Angel.

He won 15 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame as well as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

BB King started performing in the 1940s and continued to tour until recently.

EU to continue with plan to use military force against migrant traffickers despite UN concerns

A European Union plan to use military force to destroy the boats used by migrant traffickers in the Mediterranean is being prepared before it has received United Nations approval.

British Prime Minister David Cameron is holding his first talks with Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon since winning the UK's general election.

Nicola Sturgeon's Scottish National Party won 56 of Scotland's 59 Westminster seats so she is calling for an even greater devolution of powers to the Scottish Parliament than has already been proposed.

Mr Cameron is promising legislation on devolving more powers from London to Edinburgh in the Queen's Speech later this month.

The SNP ultimately wants independence for Scotland, although this was rejected by Scots in a referendum last September.
