JOHN MAJOR: LABOUR + SNP DEAL WOULD LEAD TO 'MAYHEM'

Former British Prime Minister John Major is entering the UK election race with a warning of 'mayhem' if the Labour Party forms a government supported by Scottish nationalists.

The SNP are set to win a raft of Westminster seats in Scotland and the Labour Party may need their votes to form a functional government.

Britain votes on May 7th and polls suggest the two largest parties the Conservatives and Labour will struggle to win a parliamentary majority.

ITALY DETAINS TWO OVER PEOPLE TRAFFICKING

Italy has charged the captain of a boat that sank off Libya on Sunday killing hundreds of migrants with reckless multiple homicide.

The Tunisian captain and another crew member have also been charged with aiding illegal immigration.

EU leaders will discuss the issue further at an emergency summit on Thursday.

Around 1600 migrants are thought to have died attempting to cross the Mediterranean to Europe from Libya this year.
