More Boston Marathon bombing victims oppose death sentence for bomber

A married couple badly injured in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing
have spoken out against the death penalty for convicted bomber
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

They want Tsarnaev to "disappear from [the] collective consciousness
as soon as possible", but say a federal execution is not the answer

Arrests of young American Somali men on terrorism charges shocks migrant community

There's rising concern in the United States over radical Islamic groups recruiting Somali migrants.

UN workers killed in Somali bomb attack

At least seven people have been killed in northern Somalia following a
suicide bomb attack on a United Nations van.

Al-Shabab have claimed responsibility for the strike that killed four

Fresh migrant boat distress calls

Fresh rescue operations have been launched in response to distress calls from migrant boats in the Mediterranean.

It follows the capsizing of a boat on Sunday en route from Libya with hundreds of migrants on board.

European Union ministers have been discussing the issue at talks in Luxembourg.

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has called for more help from the EU, with Italy the destination for many of the migrant vessels leaving Libya.

It's thought 1600 migrants have died attempting the crossing this year.

Three dead after boat carrying migrants sinks near Greece

At least three people including a child have drowned after a sailing boat carrying more than 100 migrants sunk off the coast of the Greek island of Rhodes. 

The incident follows several hundred deaths this weekend near Libya, prompting the European Union to hold crisis talks on saving lives in the mediterranean.

EU's Foreign Policy Chief Mogherini calls for European solidarity on migrant crisis

The EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has called for Europe to share responsibility in dealing with the migrant crisis.

The high representative made the remark ahead of a crisis meeting with the EU's foreign and interior ministers in Luxembourg discussing the rising death toll of migrants crossing the mediterranean on overcrowded boats.

Hundreds of migrants are feared dead after a ship carrying more than 700 people capsized near Libya's coast, adding to a total of around 1600 lives lost so far this year.

Mrs. Mogherini said it is the European Union's moral responsibility to prevent further tragedy.

Ukrainian separatist leader says lack of independence threatens ceasefire

Fans of the UK's Royal Family have started to gather outside the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge is due to give birth.

Greece Won't Budge, As Creditors Step Up Pressure for a Deal


Greece said it won’t budge on pledges to end austerity measures, despite pressure from creditors who continue to press for a compromise to avert an escalating crisis.

The Greek government hasn't yet come up with a list of reforms to satisfy the European Union it should receive the next tranche of bailout funds. And Athens has been forced to deny it is preparing to default as it runs out of cash to pay its bills.

But the government has to make a payment to the International Monetary Fund of around $1bn within weeks.

And economist Jeremy Cook of World First says the country is closer than ever to an exit from the eurozone.

Oklahoma City Marks 20th Anniversary of Terrorist Bombing


Hundreds gathered Sunday at the former site of the Oklahoma City federal building that was destroyed by a truck bomb 20 years earlier, to honor the 168 men, women and children killed in the blast. Until September 11, 2001, the Oklahoma City bombing was the worst terrorist attack to take place on US soil.
