Russia's President Vladimir Putin due for his annual marathon phone-in

Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to give his annual phone in with the nation.


The sessions have become something of a spectacle, with Mr Putin answering questions last year for nearly four hours.

Google Denies EU Allegations

Google has denied European Union allegations that it is abusing its overwhelming dominance in Internet searches. 

The EU has also opened a probe in to Google’s Android mobile system.

Google has 10 weeks to respond to the EU’s latest allegations.

Foreigners flee South African cities as xenophobic attacks increase

INTRO:  At least five people have been killed and dozens injured in what aid organisations say are xenophobic attacks targeting foreign shop owners in South Africa. Jury seated in Batman theater shooting case

A jury has been seated in the Batman theater shooting case in the US state of Colorado.

Twenty-seven year-old James Holmes is accused of walking into a midnight premiere of Batman The Dark Knight Rises in 2012 and opening fire, killing 12 people and injuring 70.

American firm behind the Segway bought by Chinese company

It's the Segway, that strange upright scooter you see tourists or mall cops riding.
While it has only established a niche market in the West, the American company behind the Segway has been bought out by a Chinese firm, which believes it can take the concept a lot further.

UN urges more EU help with migrants

The United Nations says European countries must do more to save the
lives of migrants fleeing across the Mediterranean.

It comes as 400 migrants are feared drowned after their boat capsized
off the coast of Libya.

US To Exhume Remains of Pearl Harbour Dead

Officials in the US military have revealed plans to exhume the remains of nearly 400 Americans who died in the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour in Hawaii.

The effort will focus on using DNA testing to try and identify the sailors and marines from one of the ships attacked, the USS Oklahoma.

EU accuses Google of unfair practices

The European Union has accused the internet search giant Google of abusing its dominant position to favour its own products.

The US internet giant which handles around 90 per cent of European online searches will first face a charge of directing users unfairly towards its shopping results - but the case may be broadened out to encompass its entire operation.

Google has been under investigation for the past five years on this matter.   The company said it strongly disagreed with the allegations and looked forward to defending itself. 

The EU's competition commissioner is Margrethe Vestager.

Police investigate possible vandalism of grave of Hillary Clinton's father

Police in Pennsylvania are investigating whether the gravestone of Hillary Clinton's father was overturned in an act of political vandalism.


The stone was tipped over on Tuesday morning.

Clegg warns voters will have to chose who holds the balance of power

The leader of Britain's traditional third party, Nick Clegg has warned no party will win an outright victory in the UK's upcoming general election so voters will have to chose who will hold the balance of power. 

The leader of the Liberal Democrats which was the junior political party  in the recent coalition government promised a ''coalition of conscience'' with either of the two main parties, Labour or Conservative.   Opinion polls show a hung parliament is likely.   

Clegg warned people would have a choice between himself, Alex Salmond of the Scottish National Party and the right-wing UKIP party's Nigel Farage.
