Obama, Castro could meet at Panama summit

US officials are reportedly close to recommending Cuba be removed from Washington's list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.

Such a move would make it significantly easier for the two countries to establish embassies in each other's capitals.

It comes ahead of a summit this week to be attended by both President Obama and President Castro.

US State Dept investigating reports of 'faster weapon delivery to Yemen'


The State Department wont confirm a statement from a top official that the U.S. is speeding up the delivery of weapons to aid the fight against rebels in conflict-torn Yemen.

Spokeswoman Marie Harf is checking on comments made by Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Blinken told reporters in Saudi Arabia today the U.S. has expedited weapons deliveries and increased intelligence sharing in support of the legitimate president of Yemen.

Florida judge throws out sex allegations against British prince

A judge in Florida has thrown out sex allegations against Britain's Prince Andrew, and ordered that they be removed from the court record.


It's a major legal victory for the Prince, who has steadfastly denied the allegations.

Rand Paul Announces 2016 Presidential Bid

The US Republican Senator for the state of Kentucky, Rand Paul, has formally announced the launch of his bid for the White House. 

The 52 year old former eye doctor is known as a libertarian, anti-establishment candidate, and, at a campaign rally in Louisville, Kentucky, said he wants to return America to the principles of limited government.

U.S. job openings at 14 year high

The amount of job openings in the United States has risen to a 14 year
high with a position now available for every 1.69 Americans.

This data released by the U.S. Labor Department is a sign that the
jobs market is on solid ground despite a disappointing jobs report
released last week.

Fourth man charged in connection with plot to help ISIS

Another young man from Brooklyn, New York has been charged with
conspiring to lend support to the Islamic State. Papers filed on
Monday named Dilkhayot Kasimov as the fourth defendant in the pending

Hillary Clinton denounces China's detention of women activists

China has called on other countries to respect its judicial sovereignty after former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said its detention of five female activists was "inexcusable".
China has previously rejected calls from Britain and the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations to release the women, who had planned to demonstrate against sexual harassment on public transport.

Jury Deliberations Begin In Boston Marathon Bombing Trial

Deliberations are underway in the trial of admitted Boston Marathon
Bomber Dzhokar Tsarnaev, the 21-year old man who stands accused of
killing three people and wounding more than 260 others in the worst
terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11. If a guilty verdict is
returned Tuesday, the jury will move on to the sentencing phase of the
trial, to decide if the death penalty is an appropriate punishment for

Former French mayor in alleged suicide over wedding profiteering scandal

French senator Jean Germain [PRON: "SHZAWN - SHZER-MAN"] has been found dead after failing to appear in court over allegations that he made money from marrying hundreds of Chinese couples while he was a town Mayor.

Children especially vulnerable in Yemen, UN agency warns

As the Saudi-led coalition continue to strike targets in Yemen a
United Nations agency has warned the country's children are most at
risk.


According to the United Nations children's welfare agency UNICEF at
least 74 children have died in the country since strikes on Houthi
rebel positions began several weeks ago.

Cameron defends plan to offer EU membership referendum

Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron has defended his plan to offer Britons a referendum on European Union membership by 2017, if the Conservative party win the upcoming general election. 

The plan was attacked by former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who said the prospect of the referendum would cause chaos for British businesses and sideline the UK in Europe. 

The former Labour leader  accused David Cameron of trading national interest for political advantage as the Conservatives try to win back voters who have defected to the anti-Europe UKIP party. 

However David Cameron insisted the British people should have a say on EU membership.

Blair gives Miliband full backing in bid for top job

Britain's Former Prime Minister Tony Blair, who won three general elections for the Labour party, says he supports current Labour leader Ed Miliband, "100 per cent" in his bid for the top job. 

The former leader waded into the UK general election campaign with an attack on the Conservatives' promise to hold a referendum on membership of the European Union. 

The Conservatives have dismissed the attack, saying they are are putting the country first by seeking a vote. 

Tony Blair said Ed Miliband had shown leadership for resisting calls for an EU referendum and praised him as "his own man."  He denied that the Labour leader was reluctant to be seen on the same podium as him.

UNSC calls for urgent access to the Yarmouk camp amid "inhumane conditions"


The UN Security Council is  demanding access to the Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp in the Syrian capital Damascus. 

Around 18 thousand refugees are in the camp are suffering conditions that one UN official described as "beyond inhumane." 

The civilians are caught up in fighting  between Palestinian militiamen opposed to the Syrian government along with Free Syrian Army fighters, who are battling Islamic State militants.

The Palestinian UNWRA relief agency said thousands of people are trapped in their homes with no food, water or medicine.  The group is calling for the evacuation of the refugees. 

Riyad Mansour, the Palestianian's Permanent Observer to the United Nations said action is needed urgently.
