Obama hails Iran nuclear outline agreement "a good deal"

U.S. President Obama says the outline of an agreement between the six world powers and Iran on Tehran's nuclear programme is a "good deal".

After days of intense talks in Switzerland, the so-called P5 plus One and Iran say they will go on to draft the text of a comprehensive agreement, by the 30th June this year.

Obama says if the deal is implemented it will make the world a safer place.

Indiana lawmakers suggest changes to controversial new law

Top Republican lawmakers in the U.S. state of Indiana have suggested changes to the controversial new law in their state.

US Secretary of State: Iran Framework 'A Solid Foundation' for a Deal

US Secretary of State John Kerry has commended the framework deal with Iran over its nuclear programme, calling it a critical milsetone.

Mr. Kerry said it's an arrangement that can give the international community confidence that Tehran's nuclear activities will remain peaceful.

Speaking in Lausanne in Switzerland after days of talks, Mr. Kerry also said the deal will be long-lasting:

Iran Reaches Framework Nuclear Deal With P5+1 (WRAP)


Six world powers and Iran have announced they've reached the outline of an agreement on Tehran's nuclear programme.

After days of intense talks in Switzerland, which went on two days past the self imposed deadline of 31st March, the so-called P5 plus One and Iran say they will now go on to draft the text of a comprehensive agreement, by the 30th June this year.

Two women charged with NYC bomb plot

Two women have been arrested for plotting a bomb attack on New York,
after becoming inspired by the Islamic State.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation uncovered their plot following a

At least 70 students killed by Islamic extremists in Kenya

INTRO: Kenyan authorities have confirmed that at least 70 students were killed by Islamic extremists in an attack on a university in the town of Garissa in north eastern Kenya. The extremist group Al-Shabaab has accepted responsibility for the attack. Almost 500 students were evacuated from the campus and Kenya's military has surrounded the area. New pipeline will carry natural gas to Mexico


American gas company ONEOK Partners and Mexican gas group Fermaca Infrastructure have announced plans to build a cross-border pipeline that will move natural gas from Texas to markets south of the border. 

The joint venture will include the construction of 200 miles of pipeline to transport up to 640 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Kenyan Pres. calls for vigilance as terror-attack death toll rises to 147

147 people have been killed and scores injured after gunmen stormed a university in Kenya, according to government officials who say the siege has now ended.

Survivors of the attack say the Al-Shabaab gunmen targeted Christians, while releasing Muslims. 

The country's President Uhuru Kenyatta responded to the incident by ordering thousands of Police recruits to report for training.

Major American medical university sued over alleged role in unethical experiments

One of America's most famous medical universities is facing a billion dollar lawsuit over its alleged role in experiments which saw hundreds of people being infected with syphilis and other sexually transmitted diseases.
As John Clarke reports from Washington DC, the experiments in the 1940s and 1950s in Guatemala are threatening the reputation of the Johns Hopkins University, and other major institutions.

Germanwings co-pilot sought information on suicide

German prosecutors said that Andreas Lubitz, co-pilot of the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps last week likely looked up information on the Internet about suicide in the week before the crash. 

Investigators believe Lubitz intentionally downed the plane, killing all 150 passengers on board.

Iran talks continue in Lausanne past Wednesday deadline

Talks in Lausanne are ongoing between Iran and six world powers working overtime to draft a political agreement to curb Tehran's nuclear ambitions. 

Negotiations have been extended beyond Wednesday's cut off day. due to differences over how much detail to include in a preliminary agreement, ahead of June's final deadline.

At least 14 dead after attack on university in north-eastern Kenya

At least fourteen people are feared to have died after a group of gunmen attacked a university in north-eastern Kenya.

9 Britons detained in Turkey trying to cross to Syria


Turkish authorities say they've detained nine British nationals caught trying to enter Syria illegally. 

The group, three men, two women and four children, thought to be aged between 2 and 10 were seized close to the Syrian border at the town of Reyhanli.  They remain in custody and are expected to be deported.

Britain's Foreign Office says it's investigating the reports.  Its not yet known if the group are members of the same family or whether they were trying to join Islamic State forces in Syria.   Hundreds of Britons have joined Islamic State forces in the region. 

Reporter Hannah Lucinda Smith told LBC Radio the group were not detained near IS-held territory.

Clegg says voters must prepare for another coalition government


In Britain the leaders of 7 political parties are preparing for the first and only live televised debate of the general election campaign. 

Conservative leader,  Prime Minister David Cameron will  go head to head with his rival for the top job, Labour's Ed Miliband in the two hour debate. They will be joined by five other candidates

The leaders will face questions from a 200-strong audience surrounding key election issues, likely to include the economy and the national healthcare service. 

The Conservative's junior government coalition partner, the Liberal Democrats will be represented by leader Nick Clegg who told LBC Radio that voters must used to the idea of a hung parliament.
