Kerry defends Iran negotiation in Capitol Hill testimony

US Secretary of State John Kerry says he's hopeful that the United States can reach a final agreement with Iran over the country's nuclear program.


Testifying before a US Senate Committee in Washington, he's vigorously defended the negotiation saying that Tehran has "lived up to every single requirement" of an interim agreement signed last year.

US welcome New Zealand non-combat mission against ISIS extremists



The United States has welcomed New Zealand's move to send non-combat personnel to Iraq to help with the coalition fight against the so-called Islamic State.

The announcement came amid reports that IS militants have kidnapped 90 Christians in Syria.

UK Premier League disappointed by plans to hold 2022 World Cup in winter

30 injured in California train derailment

IS capture 90 Syrian Christians

Islamic State has abducted dozens of Christians from villages in north-eastern Syria, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

They say at least 90 men, women and children were seized in a series of dawn raids near the town of Tal Tamr.

Greek reforms list and 4 month bailout extension is approved

Greece's proposed list of reform measures has been approved by Eurozone finance ministers - paving the way for a 4 month extension of Greece's bailout program.

The letter vows to combat corruption and tax evasion though eurozone officials still say they want a more detailed plan for Greece to complete its review.

Standoff Continues Over US Immigration Policy

The standoff between Barack Obama and the US Republican party continues, over the President's move to block nearly 5 million undocumented immigrants from deportation.

Turkey says the UK late to pass on information about 3 missing girls heading to Syria

Turkey has accused Britain of being late to pass on information relating to the 3 missing schoolgirls who are believed to be on their way to join the Islamic State in Syria. 

The girls, who are aged 15 to 17, boarded a flight from London to Istanbul last week.    Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister says London only passed on the girls' information 3 days after they arrived.   Catherine Drew reports from London.

Drones spotted over Paris

Former British foreign secretary under pressure over cash-for-access scandal

Former British foreign secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind is under pressure to step down as chairman of an important parliamentary committee after he was secretly filmed apparently offering his services to a private firm for cash.

Sir Malcolm is currently chair of the committee that oversees Britain's intelligence services.

Another former foreign secretary, Jack Straw, was also caught out in the sting - he has suspended himself from the Labour party, while the Conservative whip has been withdrawn from Sir Malcolm.

MP John Whittingdale sits on the House of Commons standards committee - he doesn't believe banning MPs from holding second jobs is the answer.
