Foreign Ministers to meet on Ukraine, Putin says "war is unlikely"

Former British foreign secretary under pressure over cash-for-access scandal

Former British foreign secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind is under pressure to step down as chairman of an important parliamentary committee after he was secretly filmed apparently offering his services to a private firm for cash.

Sir Malcolm is currently chair of the committee that oversees Britain's intelligence services.

Another former foreign secretary, Jack Straw, was also caught out in the sting - he has suspended himself from the Labour party, while the Conservative whip has been withdrawn from Sir Malcolm.

MP John Whittingdale sits on the House of Commons standards committee - he doesn't believe banning MPs from holding second jobs is the answer.

Turkey says UK authorities took three days inform it about three London schoolgirls travelling to Syria, possibly to join Islamic State.

Shamima Begum and Amira Abase, both 15, and Kadiza Sultana, 16, travelled to Istanbul a week ago. 

The Turkish deputy prime minister says they could have been stopped on entry to the country if British police had alerted the Turkish counterparts.

It comes as British counter terrorism chief Sir Peter Fahy said the danger of young people being radicalised online was one of the greatest threats to security in Britain.

Apple Building Data Centers in Ireland and Denmark


Apple has announced plans to build data centers in Ireland and Denmark, powered entirely by renewable energy.

Greece 'delays reform-plan deadline'

Greece has missed its Monday deadline to submit a letter of reforms that eurozone countries have demanded before agreeing to a 4 month bailout extension.

China Hosts Open Debate at UN Security Council

France confiscates six passports from suspected IS fighters

Officials in France have - for the first time - confiscated the passports of six nationals who were allegedly planning to travel to Syria to join Islamic State…

Intelligence services are understood to have believed the men wanted to join the group - with their passports removed as part of new counter-terrorism laws adopted in November.

Mexican Oscar winner advocates for immigration reform

British actor Eddie Redmayne scooped up Best Actor for his role in the Theory Of Everything.


Redmayne's performance of Steven Hawking saw him beat off tough competition from Benedict Cumberbatch, Bradley Couper, Steve Carell and Michael Keaton.
