Yemeni unrest blocks US administration from repatriating Gitmo detainees there

The Obama administration has reportedly ruled out sending Guantanamo Bay detainees to Yemen because of the volatile security situation there.

President Barack Obama had approved repatriating detainees to Yemen some two years ago, but concerns about Al-Qaeda's Yemeni branch allegedly put the brakes on that plan.

There are also concerns Islamic State militants have extended their reach into Yemen, where government troops are fighting rebels trying to take control of the capital Sana'a.
