US Attorney General says police must have evidence before seizing cash, property

US Attorney General Eric Holder has announced that local and state police are now banned from using a federal program that authorized them to seize cash and other property even without evidence of a crime.

Critics of the program have been saying it encouraged police to carry out unnecessary stops and seizures, since they could lead to proceeds that benefited their own departments.

The move is seen as the biggest check on police power in the U.S. in years.

Obama and Cameron hold joint press conf at White House

President Obama joined British Prime Minister David Cameron at the White House Friday, after two days of bilateral talks between the two men.

Speaking for over an hour, the leaders pledged to address Islamic extremism, the ongoing Syrian conflict and maintain their diplomatic approach to a nuclear deal with Iran.

US troops to train moderate Syrian rebels

Hundreds of American troops are to start training selected Syrian rebels at sites in the region.

The Pentagon has confirmed a report that 400 trainers and additional support personnel will take part in the programme.

John Kerry visits Paris

US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Paris meeting with the French President to express his condolences for the terror attack which took hold of the capital city last week.


His visit came as 12 new arrests in connection with the killing of 17 people were announced by police.

Beagle2 robot found on Mars

A missing robot, that was meant to touch down on the planet Mars in 2003 has apparently been found on the planet's surface.


Scientists have long assumed that the Beagle2 had been destroyed in a high-velocity impact when it tried to land on the Red Planet, as no radio contact was ever made.

Belgium terror investigation ongoing

Belgian Police are continuing their investigation into a terrorist cell which was planning to carry out attacks on Police targets.

It comes after a night of raids in Belgium which saw two suspects killed in the town of Verviers.

One raid in the city of Brussels found explosives and police uniforms - there were many arrests made across the country.

The group are thought to have been imminently ready to carry out attacks on targets in Belgium

So far no links have been made with the Paris attacks last week.

Australian nurse airlifted from Sierra Leone to the UK

BELGIAN POLICE ARREST 13 SUSPECTED JIHADIS

Belgian police say 13 suspected jihadis were arrested in raids which saw two further suspects killed.

The country is on high alert after raids in the eastern town of Verviers, and in the Brussels region.

In Verviers the two suspects were shot dead after opening fire on police with automatic weapons.
