Oklahoma executes convicted murderer

Oklahoma has executed a convicted rapist and murderer following a nine month delay.

It's the U.S. state's first execution since a controversial botched lethal injection in April.

Two Die in Belgium Raid on Suspected Terrorists

Two suspected terrorists have been killed in a raid by Belgium police and a third has been injured and arrested.

Officials say they were targeting a suspected terrorist cell in the town of Vervier,  where they believed individuals were planning attacks.

The raid appears to be part of a series of actions by police across the country to target Islamists who have fought in Syria.

Cameron 'To Push Obama on Cyber Security'

British Prime Minister David Cameron will push Barack Obama for action to ensure US-based social media companies like Twitter and Facebook co-operate with intelligence agencies in the battle against terrorism.

The White House is reiterating its all that all Americans in Iranian custody be released and reunited with their families.

White House defends free speech following Pope comments

The White House is continuing to stand by the right to free speech following comments by Pope Francis I.

The Pontiff sugggested there are limits to the right of free speech, telling reporters, " You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others."

US chips away at Cuba sanctions

Internet outrage as only white actors receive Oscar nominations

This year's Oscars have been dubbed the "whitest year" since 1998 after no non-white actors were nominated in the four major categories.

Switzerland releases currency cap against the euro

The Swiss National Bank has released its exchange rate cap on the Swiss franc - in place since 2011. 

Immediately after the decision, the Swiss franc dropped nearly 30% against from the maximum point in under the cap of one point two against the euro.

New Ebola cases declining: UN say
