War of words between Obama and Sony over shelved movie

A war of words has broken out between President Obama and the head of Sony Pictures over the company's decision to shelve a new comedy film after a cyber attack on its headquarters.


The White House says the North Koreans were responsible for breaking into Sony's mainframe, and then threatening to attack any American cinema that went ahead and showed "The Interview", a new comedy about an attempt to assassinate Kim Jong Un.

Calls for continued support for Ebola fight

United Nations Secretary-General Ban says he is cautiously optimisic that the Ebola epidemic can be brought under control, and in a trip to the region, reiterated the UN's commitment to helping the people of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

But with the death of Sierre Leone's top doctor from the virus, many are reiterating that more resources are needed to stop the disease which has already killed 7300.

Parents of accused theater shooter speak out for first time

The parents of theater shooting suspect James Holmes have spoken out for the first time.

Their son  is accused of opening fire at a Batman premiere in 2012, killing 12 people and injuring 70.

Obama criticizes Sony for pulling North Korea comedy

US President Barack Obama has called Sony's decision to pull a satirical film about North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, a "mistake".

In a press conference, the President said there was undeniable evidence that North Korea was behind the cyber-attack on Sony's headquarters in Hollywood.

But he said he wished Sony had asked him first on whether to cancel the film.

US President Barack Obama has defended his decision to start dismantling Washington's decades-old trade embargo on Cuba.

The President has signaled he will start using his executive powers as early as next month to lift travel and economic restrictions on Cuba.

The White House says this marks the beginning of sweeping changes in approach to the Communist regime- changes the President can make without the support of Congress.

Speaking at a news conference earlier, President Obama said his decision was unprecedented.

Obama slams Sony over cancelled film - "I wish they'd called me first"

President Obama has criticized a decision by Sony Pictures to abandon the distribution of a comedy film about a fictional attempt to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.


The President says there's clear evidence that North Korea was behind a cyber-attack on Sony's headquarters in Hollywood, and threats to attack American cinemas that were planning to show the film, and he's threatening reprisals.

Google accuses Hollywood of trying to "censor the internet"

Google has taken legal action against the attorney general of Mississippi whom it accuses of conspiring with Hollywood to limit free speech on the internet.

US Pentagon says they are meeting threats inside Iraq

The attack led Sony to abandon the launch of a new comedy film this Christmas, and it also exposed thousands of internal e-mails that reveal Hollywood secrets.

EIGHT CHILDREN 'STABBED TO DEATH' IN CAIRNS

Eight children have been found dead at a house in the Australian city of Cairns.

It's reported the children are between 18 months and 15 years old and were stabbed.

A 34 year-old woman has been taken to hospital to be treated for stab wounds.
