Kerry and Netayahu Meet in Rome


US Secretary of State John Kerry is in Rome this Sunday for talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, concerning developments in Israel and the West Bank.

The discussions come ahead of elections planned in Israel this coming March.

Portland School Shooting - Updated

A shooting outside a Portland, Oregon high school appears to be gang-related according to police investigating the incident. Three schools were placed on lockdown as police units flooded the area looking for the gunman.

Police shooting of 12 year old in Cleveland ruled "homicide"

The killing of a 12 year old boy in Cleveland, shot to death by police last month has been ruled a homicide.


Tamir Rice can be seen on videotape being gunned down by an office just two seconds after he arrived in a playground where the child was brandishing a pellet gun.

New Kenyan security law slammed

INTRO: Opposition parties and human rights groups in Kenya have opposed a new security bill proposed by the country's president. Most parliamentarians have backed the new State Security Bill proposed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, which they say will enhance the Kenyan government's ability to deal with the terrorism threat from the Somali based Al-Shebab group. Flight Chaos after 'technical glitch' affects UK airport


Airspace over London has been closed and flights at airports suspended due to a computer failure.

Heathrow, Europe's biggest airport, said there were delays because of a power outage at the NATS UK air traffic control centre.

UK flights delayed following computer failure


Passengers in the UK are facing major flight disruptions after a computer failure at an air traffic control centre. 


Airspace was restricted, leading to delays in flights taking off and landing, as well as cancellations, while the failure was being dealt with.

Brazilian serial killer in custody

Russian authorities say 5 militants killed in gun battle in Dagestan

Russian authorities say five insurgents have been killed in a gun battle with security forces in the country's restive southern region of Dagestan.


It comes around a week after battles on the streets of the capital of the neighbouring region Chechnya.

Northern Ireland Peace Deal Fails

UK spoke to US pre-publication of CIA interrogation report


UK intelligence officials spoke to counterparts in the US before the publication of a report in to interrogation tactics used by the CIA, says the British government. 


It said requests made regarding any mention of the UK in the report were because of "national security."  


The Prime Minister David Cameron's office had previously said it had not asked for information relating to Britain to be left out.

EU member states lobbied hard by Moscow over sanctions

European Union countries thought to be sympathetic to Russia are being targeted by a Moscow lobbying push to veto new EU sanctions - in place for what the West sees as Russia's part in the Ukraine crisis.

US AVOIDS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN WITH $1.1TN BUDGET

The US has avoided a government shutdown after the last-minute passage of a $1.1tn budget by the House of Representatives.

The Republican bill passed 219 votes to 206, although some areas of government will only receive short term funding.

Some Democrats supported the legislation after President Obama called for them to do so - others expressed anger at his position.

The bill will now have to be passed by the Senate and sent to the President to sign into law.

Russia's rouble continues to fall despite central bank intervention

Russia's rouble currency has once again fallen to historic lows after an interest rate rise by the country's central bank failed to support it.


The rouble was below 57 to the dollar after early trading on Friday and Russia's stock market also dropped.
