ICC hears from prosecutors in Kenya's Kenyatta case

The International Criminal Court in the Netherlands has been hearing from prosecutors in the case against Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta, the prosecution says the Kenyan Government is not cooperating with its investigations.

Mr Kenyatta stands accused of organising ethnic violence in the country after Kenya's 2007 elections, in which 1,200 people died and tens of thousands were forced from their homes.

The President will attend a hearing at the court in The Hague on Wednesday, to explain the allegations that evidence is being withheld.

Prosecutor Benjamin Gumpert told judges at the ICC that two pieces of evidence handed in by the Kenyan Government were missing crucial information, including a tax return form and phone records.
