Hong Kong protestors expect largest demonstrations on national holiday

Pro-democracy protesters continue still on streets of Hong Kong, as China's National Day holiday begins.

Activists say they are expecting the largest demonstrations yet to coincide with the national holiday.

The protesters want Beijing to withdraw plans to vet candidates for leadership elections in 2017.

eBay to Split Up with PayPal

Online retail giant eBay has done an about-face, announcing plans to split up with its payments operation, PayPal.

The United States and United Kingdom armed forces joined forces to conduct 24 airstrikes against Islamic State militant positions.

White House defers comment on US Secret Service incidents

The White House is trying to defer comments on the investigations into security breaches and the responses by the U.S. Secret Service.

The Director of the U.S. Secret Service testified on Capitol Hill, promising change, after the Washington Post revealed, during the most recent incident, Omar Gonzalez made it all the way through the East Room of the White House itself.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said, further comment awaits the completion of multiple investigations.

US, India plan to expand cooperation following PM Modi visit

The U.S. and India plan to expand cooperation on energy, security, defence and economic issues, following the first meeting between U.S. President Barack Obama and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Relations between Washington and Dehli have been rocky in recent years, and specifically over the fact that back in 2005, the U.S. cancelled then Governor Modi's visa to visit the U.S. over the Hindu Muslim riots which killed 1,000 in Gujarat.

Urgent care need for Ebola orphans, UN say

According to the United Nations at least 3,700 children in West Africa
have lost their parents to Ebola and risk being shunned in their
communities.

The UN's children's agency Unicef adds states the number of Ebola
orphans has spiked in recent weeks and is on course to double by
mid-October.

UK jets attack first Islamic State targets


The UK's Royal Air Force military planes have launched attacks on two Islamic State targets, which are the first since the British parliament approved air strikes on Friday.

Narendra Modi Visits Gandhi Statue in Washington D.C.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited the statue of Mahatma Gandhi outside the Indian Embassy in Washington D.C, on the final day of his four day US trip.

Mr Modi, who was accompanied by India's minister for External Affairs, is also holding formal talks with Barack Obama on Tuesday after the two dined together on Monday evening. 

He'll also meet Secretary of State John Kerry and Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel, and address the US India Business Council.
