Islamic State crisis underscores unending war for US

In his speech explaining why the U.S. will increase its military commitment to fighting the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, U.S. President Barack Obama insisted, this is more of a counter-terrorism effort and less of a war.

But analysts point out, as much as President Obama promised to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, global events are forcing him to continue wars.

Obama: 'We Will Degrade And Ultimately Destroy ISIL'

Barack Obama has said he won't hesitate to take action, including air strikes, against Islamic State militants in Syria as well as Iraq.
