Ukraine's President Poroshenko offers 'special status' to pro-Russian rebel regions

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has offered, "special status," to pro-Russian militant controlled regions in the east of the country.


But the regions' self declared leaders rejected the offer, saying they want only to break away from Ukraine.

Gates Foundation $50m to Fight Ebola

Having already given $10m, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has now pledged an additional $50m to support the fight against the Ebola epidemic engulfing West Africa.

 

According to latest figures from the World Health Organization the outbreak has infected almost 4,300 people so far, killing more than half of them.

 

As Tim Exton reports from Seattle, the Gates Foundation funds will be used to fight the disease on several fronts.

Study Reveals Possible Fracking Adverse Health Effects

According to a new study published in the United States, those living close to natural gas wells drilled by hydraulic fracturing, or 'fracking', are twice as likely to have adverse health symptoms as those living further away.

 

With 'fracking' occuring in more than thirty of America's states there is growing concern about the possible environmental and health consequences, as Tim Exton reports from Seattle.

Joan Rivers surprise biopsy cut air supply, source claims

It has been claimed that an unplanned medical procedure may have
contributed to the death of legendary American comedian Joan Rivers.

According to a New York newspaper a doctor traveling with Rivers

Pistorius to face judge for murder trial verdict

Ferrari chairman to step down

Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo announced he is to step down on Wednesday - to be replaced by Sergio Marchionne, CEO of parent company FIFA.

The leaders of Britain's three main political parties are all in Scotland campaigning against independence ahead of next week's referendum.

Prime Minister David Cameron, his deputy Nick Clegg, and Labour Party leader Ed Miliband all want to keep the United Kingdom together.

But Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond says their visits to Scotland are more likely to boost his case for independence.

Scotland votes on the 18th September on whether to become an independent country.

Putin: Russia committed to Ukrainian peace process; Ukraine set for further sanctions against Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has told Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko that Russia is committed to the peace process in Ukraine. 

Meanwhile, President Poroshenko has signed a law allowing further economic sanctions to be imposed against companies and individuals in Russia.

Leaders of the UK’s three main parties are traveling to Scotland to campaign against Scottish independence, with just eight days to go before Scotland votes in referendum.

US airstrikes continue ahead of Pres. Obama's speech

The U.S. military is confirming that additional airstrikes were conducted against Islamic State vehicales and positions in and around the Haditha dam.
